For fourteen years, Chris and his wife have enjoyed living and raising their two children in San Antonio. For recreation, and as a continuing exercise in humility, Scherer participates in triathlons. He enjoys exploring wooded areas after errant shots in an activity he loosely refers to as "golfing." Chris recently rode the Valero "Bike to the Beach" MS 150 and raised money to help fight multiple sclerosis.

As evidenced by his involvement in various professional and community organizations, Chris believes in the value of community involvement. Prior to law school, Captain Scherer served an active duty tour in the United States Marine Corps and--during Operation Desert Storm--led a 150-Marine unit in combat operations.

His experience has taught him to "prepare for the worst and hope for the best," a philosophy he applies in his personal life and his profession.
